It is our intention to provide our guests with a professional and therapeutic massage. The following
policies and procedures serve as a guide for first-time and regular massage guests of
Naturally Gifted Therapeutic Massage.
We understand that unanticipated events occur in everyone's life. Unforeseen events such as
car problems, traffic considerations, business meetings, and project deadlines, are just a few
reasons why one might consider canceling/ rescheduling a massage appointment.
In our commitment to provide a unique and outstanding massage experience to all of our clients
and out of consideration for our therapists' time, we have adopted the following policies:
ACCESS TO OUR SPA
Naturally Gifted Therapeutic Massage is located inside an older Midtown home.
When arriving for your appointment you can either park in front of the building or
behind it. There's additional parking accross the street in the Idlewild Presbyterian church
parking lot as well. We are located on the first floor at the front entrance of the building.
ARRIVAL TO YOUR MASSAGE
Please arrive for your appointment no more than 15 minutes prior to the scheduled starting time.
This allows you the time to find our location, fill out the appropriate client form (new clients), ask any questions or concerns you may have, & to undress and prepare for your service. All massage services are scheduled accordingly and early arrival (no more than 15 minutes) allows for a relaxed and unhurried experience. If late arrival is inevitable, your service(s) may be shortened or rescheduled depending
on actual arrival time in order to keep on schedule.
EVENING & WEEKEND CLIENTS
On evenings/weekends the building is locked for security purposes. We ask that you call/text us to
let us know that you have arrived for your scheduled appointment. If you have any questions or
concerns about your evening/weekend appointment let us know by call/text/email.
A confirmation email or text is sent out to all clients. Confirmation replies are required in order
to secure and finalize your appointment request. We will call/text/email 48~72 hours in advance to
confirm. No confirmation equals no appointment. We keep a full schedule and many potential
guests are placed on a waiting list. Last minute cancellations (i.e. Same-day cancellations) will be
considered the same as a no call/ no show and will be charged a rescheduling fee of $30 as well.
Please provide at least 24 ~ 48 hours notice if you need to reschedule or cancel an appointment.
This gives the spa enough time to fill the slot. If a client fails to cancel within 24 hours of their
scheduled appointment, they will be asked to pay the rescheduling fee of $30 before they receive any
further massage services. Same-day cancellations are treated the same as no-shows.
The third-party voucher(s) (Groupon, LivingSocial, Amazon etc.) will be redeemed for
that missed massage appointment.
LATE ARRIVAL POLICY
No guest is treated any different from the other. With that being said, late arrivals will not receive an extension of time for their scheduled appointment(s). Only if our schedule will allow, we may be able to accommodate a partial or full appointment. This will be at our discretion and only with proper, advanced notification of your late arrival i.e. phone call, text message or email. If client is more than 15 minutes late, then the appointment will be reschedule.
NO CALL / NO SHOW POLICY
Clients who fail to show or call to inform the Massage Therapist of any changes in their scheduled appointment(s) will have to pay the rescheduling fee of $30. Once the fee is paid only then will a client be able to get back on schedule for their massage service. Clients who have purchased a third-party voucher (i.e. Groupon, Amazon, LivingSocial) will have their voucher(s) redeemed for that missed massage appointment and will be subject to paying the rescheduling fee as well. It is important that our massage therapists are compensated for scheduled appointment times. No exceptions.
All sales are final. Naturally Gifted Therapeutic Massage will provide credit to all persons who wish to receive a refund for massage session(s) purchased directly from Massage Therapist. Gift Certificates have no cash value and cannot be refunded once purchased. No exceptions to the policy. Third-Party Vouchers (Amazon, GroupOn, LivingSocial etc.) can only be dealt with that affiliate, NGTM cannot issue any refund to any persons wishing to receive a refund for said voucher.
INCLEMENT/ BAD WEATHER POLICY
As we all know, the weather can be very unpredictable here in Memphis. If the weather makes it unsafe to travel, we will call/text/email (whichever is available) and reschedule your appointment. We will also provide notice on the front/home page of this website, when possible. On the occasion that you live in one of the "pocket" neighborhoods or streets, which tends to stay with a high volume of traffic after most other areas have unsafe roads, please call and give us as much advanced notice as possible. We want everyone to remain as safe as possible. Keep in mind when SCS is closed the spa will be closed.
THIRD-PARTY VOUCHERS USE POLICY
Per policy we will allow you to use your third-party voucher only one (1) time, that also includes gifted vouchers as well. Appointments on Fridays & Saturdays are subject to availability. This is based on the volume of direct pay clients (loyalty clients) vs. third-party (new clients). Third-Party Vouchers (Amazon, GroupOn, LivingSocial etc.) can only be dealt with that affiliate, NGTM cannot issue any refund to any persons wishing to receive a refund for said voucher. With that being stated, when you purchase a voucher from one of these affiliates the intent is for you to continue services with the company (Naturally Gifted Therapeutic Massage), not the third-party affiliate. If you find yourself enjoying your services from Naturally Gifted Therapeutic Massage and see an advertised price you're interested in, we ask that you call/text/email us for any specials that we have going on.
Other Massage Policies
Prior to each massage session, the treatment plan will be discussed with you. At your first visit with us you will receive a copy of the massage therapy policies and will be asked to sign the consent stating that you have read the information, understand it, and agree to comply with the professional massage therapy policies and procedures. All Clients who we have not seen for at least a year will also be asked to fill out this form. Paperwork is updated once every year for new & current clients.
SCOPE OF PRACTICE
Massage therapists are licensed professionals and held to the highest standards of the American Massage Therapy Association. Massage Therapy is a profession in which the practitioner applies manual techniques, and may apply adjunctive therapies, with the intention of positively affecting the health and well-being of the client. Massage Therapists do not diagnose or prescribe for medical conditions nor are they allowed to provide treatment for a specific condition without a doctor's supervision. The massage therapist is required to refer you for diagnosis and to follow recommendations of your physician.
RESPECT FOR CLIENT NEEDS AND BOUNDARIES
Naturally Gifted Therapeutic Massage Therapists are happy to adjust pressure, temperature, musical volume, work longer on an area or move on if you request it. The client may choose to: leave on as much clothing as needed for comfort, refuse any massage methods, stop massage at any time and is free to leave; the therapy door is never locked. The client will always be draped with a sheet and blanket. Only the area being massaged will be undraped. The clients will be kept informed of the area to be massaged. Occasionally, an emotional response to massage occurs. If this happens, it is ok to express the feelings in our safe, nonjudgmental environment - or you may request privacy and end the session. You are in control.
Requests for sexual activity will not be tolerated, will be viewed as solicitation, and reported to the proper authorities under the guidelines of the massage therapy policies and procedures. The client will not be rescheduled if this occurs. The breast (pectoral) and genital area will not be massaged under any circumstances. Permission will be asked before working close to these areas; otherwise, a professional distance will be maintained. Also, low back, hip & inner-mid thigh will be massaged only with permission and can be worked through the draping if requested. Glute area can be massaged and only with written permission & informed consent, and can be worked on through the draping. Sexual interaction or discussion of any kind between the client and the massage therapist is NEVER appropriate. On rare occasions an involuntary sensual response to massage is natural and will subside on its own in a few moments.
We do not massage anyone under the age of 18, even with written parental consent.
CONFIDENTIALITY AND CONVERSATION
The discussion between the massage therapist and the client is confidential. The client may or may not choose to talk during the massage. We are happy to listen to your conversation and share our professional expertise. We prefer to not discuss topics of a political, private or sexual nature.
EXISTING AND NEW MEDICAL CONDITIONS
It is the responsibility of the client to keep the massage therapist informed of any medical treatment currently being received, and to provide written permission from the physician, chiropractor, physical therapist, etc., that the massage may be continued. The client must also keep the massage therapist informed of any changes in health conditions. For clients undergoing chemo and radiation therapies, please note that we require a doctor's note that states the doctor is aware of and agrees to the desired treatment.
It is up to the therapist to accept or deny any client due to any current and/or past medical conditions with or without written consent from a medical physician.
